A ground-breaking analysis of the effects of nature dependency on a country’s credit rating demonstrates that after the 2008 financial crisis, the correlation between nature and credit ratings has weakened and economies most dependent on nature exports have maintained a stable rating and those least dependent have worsened, indicating that, following market shocks, ratings may not price nature in as extensively as they should.
